Manuscript postmark on cover franked with U.S. 1857 3¢ dull red, cover sent to Harper's Ferry (West Virginia), the adhesive was uncancelled and cancelled on arrival with "Harper's Ferry, Va., Apr. 27, 1861" cover set for forwarding with address crossed out and manuscript "Ford 3", however there is no forwarding address and second strike of Harper's Ferry double circle applied on Apr. 30,1861, flap tear, Very Fine and unusual, A rare West Virginia Independent State Usage, Harper's Ferry is located in Jefferson County which was later incorporated into the Union State of West Virginia in 1863, ex-Thayer.
