series by Perkins, Bacon & Co., all mounted and written up on pages, the co#C27-34, 1930 5c-3B Lithographed Air Post specialized collection of the proofs, essays and issued stamps, this is a marvelous study of the production of this lithographed series by Perkins, Bacon & Co., all mounted and written up on pages, the collection starts with several of the unique essays for this issue including an artist's pencil sketch of the 50c and a watercolor artist's drawing in blue of the 3B, both similar but slightly different from the issued design, then the accepted artist's drawing in carmine of the 15c and the 3B in blue, each matted and with the approval signature and handstamp of the Consulate General of Bolivia in London, these two values became the prototypes for the two designs that were used in all the values, includes five reverse engraved die proofs of these two values, then four lithographed impressions of each of the two values were widely spaced on a proof sheetlet of eight, two full sheets in carmine and blue are present plus 22 individual impressions taken from these sheets in various colors, the collection concludes with the issued stamps in mint and used singles, mint blocks of four, mint imperforate corner singles and vertical pairs, there is also detailed descriptions of the three transfer types and their position on the plate for all eight values, o.g. or used, very fine and a perfect exhibition of the production of this issue with many rare and unique items; 27 pages in all but sixteen pages could be easily sorted out to show all the important elements in a one frame exhibit. 2208 PSogObl Air post mint and used collection of several hundred for the issues from 1923 to 1935, mostly written up on pages and starting with a mint set of the SCADTA air posts overprinted with "Bo" handstamp, these were available at the Colombian consulate for interior mail into Colombia, interestingly no covers are known with these stamps from Bolivia, the first issue Aviation School issue has a set of "Muestra" (specimen) overprints plus singles and numerous multiples including sheets of 25 or 50 of the 50c-5B values, we also note an unused and used air post Platanillos provisional (unlisted in Scott), the 1935 Map issue is quite specialized including some photo essays, die proofs of American Bank Note Company on file cards complete including the master die without value, plus plate proofs on card and invalidated specimen blocks of four with punch holes, quality is excellent throughout, o.g. or used, fine-very fine. 2209 c Air post substantial early postal history collection of 147 covers from the period of 1923-37, housed in three albums and well written up on exhibition pages, of considerable significance are the early covers of 1925-27 which include 22 covers, all are flown and some are first flight covers, we note for example the special flight of October 21, 1925 form Sucre to Cochabamba that had a four line cachet "Correo Aereo,Sucre/Cochabamba /21 Obre. 1926" applied to each stamp on the cover like an overprint, three different frankings are present including a postal envelope and it is recorded that only fourteen covers were flown, another rare item we note includes the November 13, 1926 flight of Potosi to Cochabamba that has a special green cachet on photocard, it is believed that only eight such cards are known, plus others that seem very unpretentious but are actually quite desirable, in the 1930's international covers start to appear involving the Condor company and other international air companies, there are a total of sixteen covers carried on the 1932 flights of the Graf Zeppelin, condition is overall clean and attractive with most fine-very fine or better; a most interesting collection for study as not a great deal is published on the early air post history of this country and examination will reveal some rare and elusive items. 2210 ogOblc Modern air post extensive collection neatly mounted on pages and housed in eleven deluxe custom albums, this attractive collection starts with the 1937 surcharges and is very comprehensive up to 1976 when Bolivia stopped issuing air mail stamps, the collection follows the pattern of collecting the stamps in mint singles and blocks of four, used singles and sometimes blocks of four, plus all the varieties of both stamps and overprints that could be found, including some that are not even listed by the specialized Bolivian catalogs, plus any proof material that he was able to acquire, finally the collector then included the stamps used on cover, in the more modern period of this collection this may include some first day covers but his general intention was to get legitimate usages that reflected the purpose of the stamp, the collection includes over 250 covers, the most significant value is in the earlier issues and particularly in the varieties including imperforate and part perforated pairs and blocks of four, the surcharged and overprinted values also have inverted, double overprints and other varieties that can be quite elusive, plus we note some interesting proofs, especially in the 1943 Waterlow & Sons issue of the Centenary of the Department of Beni, included are unique black file proofs of the master frame and vignette and then the frames of the five different values, these are all working proofs cut to slightly larger than stamp size and with ink file numbers, some have stains and soiling, one with fault at right, also including "Specimen" die proofs and singles plus blocks of plate proofs with and without vignette with invalidation punch hole, all making for a very nice display of this attractive issue, overall the condition is clean and fresh as one would expect in this period, commercial covers may have some postal wear, stamps are o.g. or used, with some n.h. found periodically, especially in the multiples, fine-very fine; an excellent collection of Bolivian air mails attractively presented. 2212 c Postal stationery extensive collection used in the 20th century, well over 100 postally used postal cards, envelopes and newspaper wrappers, all neatly mounted on pages and housed in two deluxe custom albums, a lovely collection with additional adhesives used during the twentieth century period, this is quite proper for Bolivia as they issued very little postal stationery and virtually all of the postal cards were issued in the late 19th century but were used and sold out of the post offices well into the 20th century, this is aptly illustrated by the 1917 provisional surcharge that was placed on halves of the second issued reply card of 1890 which was still in stock, there are five legitimate usages of this rare card including a usage to Belgium with Belgium postage due, some of the early postal cards have views on the reverse, many are foreign usages to Europe and elsewhere with interesting additional franking, the envelopes are similarly collected with many interesting frankings and registered uses, and there is also a nice selection of the few different postal wrappers properly used including some with additional adhesives, finally there is and additional 45 1950 30c and 1.50B mint surcharged cards with different views on the reverse, condition varies as would be expected on this voluminous collection but most are attractive and fine-very fine; a nice collection of material that is not at all common.
