2162 c 1887 Eleven Star rouletted postal history collection, written up on exhibition pages and includes seven covers with adhesives of this issue, three of which have mixed issue frankings with the 20c Green Book of Law issue, another fourteen are postal cards or envelopes of this same design with additional rouletted adhesives, we note some very attractive frankings including an 1889 registered cover to Paris with two 20c Book of Law singles and 5c Blue and 10c Orange rouletted, also a registered 1890 cover to Bale, Switzerland with 1c Carmine and 10c Orange rouletted on a 10c Orange postal envelope, most of the others with adhesives are foreign mail covers as well paying various rates to various locations in Europe and the Americas, the collection also includes over 40 5c Blue and 10c Orange postal cards or envelopes without adhesives being the postal stationery of the same design and issued at the same time, includes a wide range of domestic and foreign usages, some cards have views on the front, condition is generally clean and fresh, most fine-very fine; examination will reveal many attractive and desirable items. 2163 c 1890-93 Nine Star important postal history collection, which includes the later lithographed set as well as the re-issued engraved issue, all are nicely mounted and written up on pages and includes a number of attractive and desirable covers gracing these pages, there are 43 covers and postal stationery items with additional adhesives of the engraved issue, of special significance are the higher value covers such as a 20c Dark green pair on 1892 registered to Hartford, Connecticut, plus several 20c bisect usages, two large registered covers are impressive, one has a four-color franking to Fribourg, Switzerland, the other is a return receipt registered cover with 20c Dark green, 50c Red and 100c Yellow singles in a beautiful three-color franking of exceptionally high value to Paris, a multitude of other attractive covers abound, also eighteen covers with the less used lithographed series including a 10c Orange vertical pair imperforate between in a proper commercial usage to Peru, finally there are 29 used postal cards and envelopes of this Nine Star design that were issued at the same time, includes nice domestic and foreign uses, a few faults are present but the vast majority are fine-very fine; this lot deserves careful viewing to appreciate the many lovely items here. 2165 c 1893 Postal revenue cover collection of 24 covers used in the late 19th century with revenue stamps paying postal duty, Bolivia often used interchangeably its postage stamps and revenue stamps for the opposite purpose that they were intended, in 1893 the government sanctioned the use of revenues to be used as postage, issues that were used included the 1883 "Transaccions" series, this collection has nine covers of various values, the 1890 1c and 2c Rouletted series was overprinted "Timbre" for fiscal use in 1890, those stamps also became available for use in 1893 and includes eight covers with some very attractive frankings in conjunction with other postal values, finally there are seven covers with provisional overprints applied to earlier revenues that could then be used for postage, all are fine-very fine; an interesting and scarce collection of these issues that are not listed in the catalogs even as postal fiscals. 2166 ogOblc 40-46 #40-46, 1894 1c-100c Coat of Arms specialized collection/accumulation in two large deluxe custom albums plus loose large pages for full sheets, a magnificent assemblage of this issue that was originally and legitimately printed in London and then was surreptitiously printed in Paris on thicker paper, an excellent selection of the properly issued stamps with multiples including a block of ten and other multiples of the 100c Brown red up to full sheets of some of the lower values, this study shows proper postal cancels that were used on the series as well as some remainder cancels, of significance are over 40 properly used covers and postal stationery items, mostly with additional adhesives, we note some attractive usages going to Europe and other better usages such as registered, postage due, etc., we even note a cover or two with the thick paper Paris printings properly used from a small shipment that was sent to Bolivia by mistake, the Paris printing is represented by numerous examples mounted including imperforates as well as full sheets, most of these have the bars cancel that was placed on these and was not of proper postal origin, condition varies, most mint of the properly issued stamps have o.g. with n.h. present within the blocks, the vast majority are fine-very fine; a wonderful assemblage of material for the student who wishes to study and exhibit this issue. 2167 c 1894 Coat of Arms extensive postal history collection, featuring usages of both the legitimate London printings, as well as the small illegitimate printings of Paris that were sent by mistake to Bolivia and were put into use, includes over 45 covers with various London issues on cover and on postal stationery of the same design, there are some lovely frankings on registered receipt requested covers, we note an attractive four-color franking to Belgium with pairs of two of the values, plus a three-color franking with 2c, 10c and 20c values to Paris, also a scarce three-color franking on a postal envelope to Mexico, a very uncommon destination even in this period, the Paris printing can be told by the thick paper that they are printed on, eighteen covers are present which includes a pretty registered A.R. cover to New York with a 5c Green single and a pair of the 10c Yellow brown, there is also a very rare mixed issue 11c rate cover to France with 1c Bister London printing and a pair of the 5c Green Paris printings, all Paris printing covers are much scarcer than the London printings but mixed usages are seldom seen, the collection concludes with 60 used items of postal stationery of the same design with no additional adhesives doing various domestic and foreign usages with a nice range of markings, condition varies but overall most covers are attractive and fine-very fine; a wonderful collection of scarce postal history and ideal for specialization in this issue. 2168 c 1897 Portrait series postal history collection of 57 covers mounted on well written up pages, this issue is popular and impressive because of the large size of the stamps, includes a lovely range of frankings including values regularly used up to the 20c value, there are a number of bisects of various stamps to make specific rates, there is also a legitimate 2B Red, yellow, green and black single franking on a large registered linen cover to Hamburg, this scarce value is also found on a document with other revenues doing fiscal service, plus there is a philatelic cover used at La Paz with 1c-1B values complete (the only recorded example) but with a Fournier forgery for the 2B, a most unusual cover, condition varies but most are fine-very fine and well worth examining. Rendon, also a large domestic cover with a 10c strip of three tied by La Paz boxed handstamp, the collection is rounded out with over 35 forged overprints explaining the differences from the genuine and a wonderful reference, also mint and used postal cards with large Estado Federal arms handstamp, condition is attractive and fine-very fine; a very interesting collection of this issue that is far rarer than the modest catalog values of the stamps imply; accompanied by a 1966 PF certificate. 2171 PogObl 10/23 Nineteenth century stamp specialized collection consisting of the 1867-78 first three issues after the Condors that were produced by the American Bank Note Company, plus the 1868 Revenue issue that was produced concurrently, which was valid for postage just as the postal issues were valid for fiscal use, attractively written up on exhibition pages and housed in a deluxe padded custom album, there is an extensive study of each issue which starts with proof impressions, these are largely plate proofs and trial colors on cards or India for each set with over 65 present, plus a couple of large die proofs of the 5c and 10c Book of Law series and several file card proofs of the American Bank Note Co., the stamps are collected mint and used and comprises all values including the scarce high values such as an unused Nine Star 500c Black and five used singles plus an unused example of the rare Eleven Star 500c Black, mint and used multiples are present, some sizable, plus there is an excellent collection of used after each series showing the different cancels that are found on the issue, interspersed is collateral including forgeries, we note two Sperati die proofs and three of his forgeries as well as other old-time productions, this collection is exceptionally attractive and comprehensive, mint stamps usually have o.g., overall fine-very fine; a very valuable collection with the listed stamps cataloging many thousands of dollars and a significant portion of the collection is material that is not listed; a collection that warrants careful examination. 2172 PogObl Late Nineteenth century stamp specialized collection encompassing the issues from the 1887 Re-issue of Eleven Star and 1890-93 Nine Star issues, including the scarcer lithographed set, to the 1899 General Antonio Jose de Sucre series, all neatly mounted on pages and housed in deluxe custom albums, each issue is well documented starting with die proofs and essays and including plate proofs and trial colors, in total we note well over 100 plate proofs and stamp size trial colors in singles and various multiples, plus there are 30 die proofs or essays of the American Bank Note Company, mostly die sunk on cards, the 1899 General Sucre issue is particularly strong in these, with fifteen die proofs sunk on card in both large and smaller size formats, each issue of stamps shows mint in singles and various multiples plus any varieties that are available, the colorful and attractive 1897 Portraits issue has many nice mint multiples with some quite large, the 1893 Lithographed issue is very strong in pairs and blocks with many showing the imperforate between varieties with all values present and including several nice imperforate between varieties of the scarce 20c Dark Green, this lithographed issue is actually one of the most valuable sets with many mint and use high values and interesting items, used stamps are represented by both a set including some multiples and then with all the different cancels the collector could obtain for each value within each set, in addition to the normal postal issues there is also a collection of the 1890 issue overprinted "Timbre" for revenue, but which were also a little later valid for postage, plus 1892 postal fiscals and 1894 "Transacciones" revenues, all of these are collected the same as the postal issues including some proofs, there are literally thousands of mint and used stamps in this collection with excellent value found throughout, condition is attractive, most mint has o.g. with n.h. found on some, especially in the multiples, overall fine-very fine; a marvelous collection of this interesting period of Bolivia. provisional surcharge, the stamp is well centered and fresh, tied by a#97, 1911 "20 Cents/1911" Villa Bella provisional surcharge on 2c Green and black, an impressive and historically important 1911 linen cover to Hamburg, Germany with this rare provisional surcharge, the stamp is well centered and fresh, tied by a nice strike of the blue green target cancel with a star in the center, originally posted from Riberalta with faint company cachet of that town dated December 15, 1911, matching blue green double oval postmark of Villa Bella at bottom left, stamp is also tied by a neat purple "Porto Velho/(Amazonas)/26 Dez 1911" double-circle c.d.s., Amazonas (Para) transit on the reverse, a very fine and choice cover; this cover was the discovery copy of this provisional and was first reported by Senf in 1913 and was also responsible for the listing in Yvert; this has been reported as the only known cover, however another may exist, nevertheless an extraordinarily rare cover of historical importance.
