478 O 18 18, 1886 1p Revenue with red manuscript Postage provisional overprint, bright color, usual centering for the basic revenue stamp, tiny corner perf. crease at top left, clear

This stamp is clearly undervalued in the Scott catalog, as it is far more rare than the black manuscript overprint that lists at $15,000.00. In fact, when this stamp was last offered in our 2003 sale of the Dan Walker collection, it realized $16,500.00 (including buyer's premium), despite cataloging only $3,000.00 at the time. Not only one of the important rarities of Grenada, but also one of the key 19th century rarities of the entire British Empire. Accompanied by a 1961 RPS certificate; ex-Messenger, Hackmey and Walker (S.G. #29 footnote; the red overprint not priced separately). (Image) $11,000.00

479 O 19 19, 1883 1p Orange revenue with black manuscript Postage overprint, better than normal centering, light A of Gouyave dated March 2, very fine for this.Although not as rare as

The Walker census records only 28 used copies, including one on cover. We offered nine examples (including the unique cover) from the Walker collection in our June 2003 auction, as well as the unique unused copy in the sale of the "Sovereign" collection last year. Aside from these examples, we are hard-pressed to find other copies being offered at auction in the last ten years. An especially challenging stamp and a key rarity of Grenada.
