BRITISH COMMONWEALTH COLLECTION LOT
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
586 O   British Commonwealth valuable balance of the Collier collection housed in nine Scott Specialty albums, quite comprehensive, with nearly every colony represented (except Great Britain and Canada which are offered separately), with many countries coming close to completion, as Mr. Collier diligently sought to fill all the spaces in his albums, including all of the $25.00-$100.00 cataloging middle range items, which were often much more difficult to locate than the higher cataloging values, there are many of the early Queen Victoria heads and later tablet issues, plus elusive 20th century complete sets, with particular value in the King Edward VII and King George V definitive sets, plus postage dues and other hard to find back-of-the-book, better colonies of note include Cayman Islands, Cyprus, Falklands, New Guinea (complete per Scott) and New Zealand, plus numerous others that should easily be worth $500.00 or more by themselves, as the total catalog value is enormous, while the condition is a little mixed, a very large percentage is fine-very fine, with the higher values often being in above average quality, also not to be overlooked is a group of unmounted stamps mostly still on the original auction or retail pages (with better items to be found); an incredible opportunity for a collector wanting the challenge of collecting used British Commonwealth, and equally valuable to a dealer who has been frustratingly trying to fill wants lists of used stamps.
