1827 og S.G. #142 imageS.G. #142, 1919 3c Brown, with "First/Trans-/Atlantic/Air Post/April, 1919" overprint, the so-called "Hawker" air post stamp, the mint example offered here is, unquestionably, one of the freshest and brightest mint examples of this rarity we have ever seen, with manuscript initials (of the postmaster) "J.A.R." on reverse as always, deep luxuriant color and a crisp detailed impression on unusually bright paper, wonderfully well centered as well, with full clean o.g. that has been lightly hinged, very fine and especially choice; of the 200 originally issued, only 87 (at most) still exist mint, and fewer still are in premium quality; an important air post rarity of the world: signed and accompanied by 1979 Andre Nussbaum and 1997 BPA certificates; ex-Matejka, Schneider (Scott #C1; $15,000.00).
