2051 ng S.G. #27 imageS.G. #27, 1888 "ONE PENNY." surcharge without bar on 2 1/2p Ultramarine, a magnificent quality unused example of this enormously rare stamp, marvelously bright and fresh, with strong rich color, outstanding centering as well, regummed, very fine and choice; only one sheet of twenty 2 1/2p stamps was surcharged with this first setting "ONE PENNY" overprint and the vast majority of these were used, we estimate that perhaps only four to five mint/unused copies still exist; obviously the key stamp of St. Christopher and the cornerstone rarity of the British West Indies; signed and accompanied by a 1992 Brandon certificate (Scott #23; $11,000.00). B on 6p Deep yellow green, imperforate, a brilliantly fresh mint example of this incredibly rare stamp, gorgeous sumptuously rich color and a crisp detailed impression on bright paper, three large margins, fourth at right just along frame line, o.g., fine; reportedly only ten imperforate examples are known, two of which are in the Royal Collection and one in the British Museum, leaving only seven copies available to collectors; an important showpiece for a great collection or exhibit of St. Helena; 1973 BPA certificate (Scott #23 var.).
