Ia, position 97L4, curl on shoulder variety, a magnificent quality used example of this important classic rarity, possessing impressively large margins all around, extraordinarily rich color and an incredibly detailed impression on bright fresh paper, all wonderfully complemented by a choice strike of a blue town c.d.s., extremely fine; the excellent clarity of the impression of this lovely stamp and the fortuitous placement of the cancel allows for all of the distinctive Ty. Ia characteristics to show exceedingly well; the rarity of any imperforate Ty. Ia is easily understood when one realizes that only 18 out of the 200 positions on Plate 4 produced this important type, and to find one in such outstanding quality is truly remarkable, in fact, this is one of the finest imperforate Ty. Ia's to be offered on the auction block in several years; 1989 and 2000 PF certificates. (Image) 10,600.00
