Greene, Velasco, Texas", General Greene was second in command of the disasterous Mier Expedition of 1842, when a retaliatory foray into Mexico by a Republic of Texas force ended in disaster, 1 out of every 10 captured Texans was executed by the draw of a black bean in the infamous "Black Bean Lottery", having escaped execution, Greene returned to Texas and served in the Texas Congress, trivial edge tear at bottom, very fine for this; an interesting item of Republic of Texas significance; ex-Camina. Alexander, there are no recorded Ten Cent covers from Lansingburgh, despite 100 examples having been sent to its Post Office (this cover being from an old estate was not available to the author for his remarkably detailed census).
