647 nh 344V var. image#344V var., 2c Carmine imperforate coil, vertical format, with 1c transfer error underneath the 2c, an exceptional example of this very rare error, being in a top sheet-margin vertical strip of seven with plate no. 5299 and star appearing in sheet margin, the error is found on the fourth stamp of the strip, which is the result of an erroneous entry with a One Cent transfer roll, once noticed, the error was re-entered with a Two Cent design in an attempt to completely eradicate the mistake, however significant portions of the original transfer can still be seen, brilliantly fresh, nicely margined, o.g., all n.h. except one non-error stamp at top l.h., very fine; a significant coil rarity, as well as a major showpiece for the Washington-Franklin specialist; the error alone catalogs $1,250.00, with no premium added for the additional stamps; quite undercataloged considering its true rarity; 1990 PF certificate.
