"By the way of Montgomery"; this coastal area of northwest Florida was the
scene of constant raiding and foraging by both armies during the war, this
letter was directed approximately 170 miles out of the way through Alabama
to evade enemy interception; trivial reduction right and additional
endorsement rubbed out, still very fine and unusual.

Henry's Co., Col. Randalls Regiment"; writer who is on a forced march to
Little Rock speaks of the hardships and various aspects of the war in the
western theater, "they think that peace will be made in 2 or 3
months...we can't find any Yankees to which for I am told they are leaving
Tennessee and Arkansas in a hurry..."; very fine with marvelous
contents from a soldier on the march.
