A fabulously fresh and choice example of this great United States rarity. There are only 23 examples recorded, one of which is housed in the New York Public Library's collection. Of the known examples, the copy offered here from the Lessin collection ranks among the very finest available, as few exist both with such exceptional centering and with non-scissor separated perforations. There is no question that this is the finest quality Two Cent Vermilion Hard Paper Special Printing to appear on the auction block in several years - eclipsing the quality of the examples that were found in such luminary collections as those formed by Messrs.
