573 nh 449 image#449, 2c Red rotary coil, Ty. I, perf. 10 horiz., a choice joint line pair, wonderfully fresh and crisp overall, with rich characteristic red color and a razor-sharp impression on bright paper, quite well centered, particularly between the stamps which is especially difficult to find, even the joint line is far more crisply and cleanly printed than usual, immaculate o.g., never hinged, very fine; the rarity of the Two Cent Ty. I rotary plate coil is the result of its very limited lifespan, having been issued in December 1915, only to have been replaced by the Type III design in February 1916. Additionally, its release was virtually unnoticed by philatelists at the time and very few were saved. A wonderfully choice example of this coil rarity, being among the very few that exist in this pristine never hinged condition; 1982 PF certificate. (Image) 26,000.00

I, perf. 10 horiz., a magnificent quality mint pair of this very rare coil, possessing several exceptional physical attributes that are seldom encountered on this difficult issue, including being incredibly well centered within uncharacteristically large margins (even its margins at top and bottom are wider than usual), intensely rich and characteristic red color distinctive only to genuine examples, o.g., while the top stamp has h.r.'s, the bottom stamp is never hinged and, this stamp, if ever broken out of this pair, would surely rank as one of the finest never hinged #449 singles in existence, extremely fine; 1996 PF certificate; cataloged as hinged and never hinged singles.
