Collection Balances
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
305 og 7/739, C1/JQ5 #7/739, C1/JQ5, The valuable balance of the McKinney collection, hundreds of mint/unused stamps neatly housed in a single Scott/Schaubek National hingeless album (with slipcase), containing many of the stamps originally acquired by Thomas C. McKinney and with later additions by his son Bruce, the collection begins with the 1851 issue and continues through 1934, although the collection is sparsely populated in the 1851-1883 era (as most of these were lotted individually), there are several stamps in this period which catalog hundreds each (and more), condition during this period is a bit mixed and there will be some stamps with no gum or have been regummed, beginning with the 1887-1888 Bank Notes the collection becomes much more solid both in terms of condition and comprehensiveness, with strong Bureau issues to the 30c values, nice early commemoratives, 1902 Regular issue complete through the 30c, and the most valuable portion of the collection being dominated by a wonderful selection of Washington-Franklin issues (including coils), many of which were individually acquired by Bruce McKinney at auction or from retail dealers, we also note a nice White Plains souvenir sheet, complete Kans.-Nebr. overprints, Air Posts complete less the 1930 Graf Zeppelins and a small group of Special Delivery and Parcel Post issues; with the exception of some early 19th century the great majority have o.g., hinging ranges from generally l.h. to n.h., some early material with flaws, however there is impressive value in fine-very fine or better stamps of the 20th century; four certificates accompany. Est. 7,500-10,000

SOLD for $13,000.00
