Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
772 og J6 image#J6, 30c Brown, pristine mint single, quite well centered, bright fresh color, full clean o.g., lightly hinged, very fine; 1990 PF certificate. (Image) 350.00

SOLD for $425.00
Closing..Oct-18, 05:30 PM
773 ng J8 image#J8, 1c Deep brown special printing, a choice unused example of this immensely rare and terribly difficult stamp, without gum as is so often the case with the Postage Due Special Printings, however this stamp is far above the norm as it is completely free of the myriad of flaws which affect most existing copies, bright and fresh with prooflike color and impression, while centered a bit to right (as most examples are found), this is far better centered than most, very fine; a major rarity both in terms of its condition and number of examples still thought to exist; according to William E. Mooz, in his extensive study of the Postage Due Special Printings, the One Cent value is far more rare than most realize and the quantity issued figure in the Scott catalog is erroneous, as the vast majority of the approximately 9,000 One Cent stamps sold as Special Printings were simply regular issues, Mr. Mooz conjectures that only about 500 actual Special Printings were sold, and that perhaps as many as 400 of these purchased by a Mr. G.B. Calman were destroyed; 1990 PF certificate. (Image) 12,500.00

SOLD for $4,750.00
Closing..Oct-18, 05:30 PM
774 ng J9 image#J9, 2c Deep brown special printing, an extraordinary quality unused example of this incredibly rare and challenging stamp, without gum as is the case with so many Postage Due Special Printings, boasting outstanding centering amid lavishly large margins which are most uncharacteristic, lovely rich color and a crisp prooflike impression on wonderfully bright paper, completely devoid of any of the flaws that plague most Postage Due Special Printings due to the frail and soft nature of their paper, extremely fine; any Two Cent Postage Due Special Printing is a major rarity, but to find one both sound and so well centered is an almost impossible challenge; the Scott catalog lists the quantity issued at 1,361, but it is widely accepted that only a tiny fraction of this number were actually sold as Special Printings; 1985 PF certificate. (Image) 8,500.00

SOLD for $5,250.00
Closing..Oct-18, 05:30 PM
775 ng J10 image#J10, 3c Deep brown special printing, a seldom seen sound unused example of this enormously rare stamp, being the most elusive of all the Postage Due Special Printings to find in any condition, let alone in this fault-free state of preservation, bright distinctive Special Printing color, centered a bit to left, but not objectionably so, tiny natural inclusion speck mentioned for complete accuracy only, fine; the first sound example of this rarity we have offered in years; only 436 were issued, but only a tiny fraction of this number still survive; photocopy of a 1982 PF certificate. (Image) 12,500.00

SOLD for $3,750.00
Closing..Oct-18, 05:30 PM
776 og J11 image#J11, 5c Deep brown special printing, a marvelously bright and crisp mint example of this notoriously difficult rarity, possessing a wonderful overall brilliance seldom seen on any of the Postage Due Special Printings, gorgeous rich color and a razor-sharp impression on fresh paper, exceptionally well centered, full o.g., small thin spot in top right corner not even mentioned on accompanying certificate, otherwise very fine and quite choice; certainly among the few examples extant that still retains its original gum; it has been estimated that only approximately 250 of this value ever reached the public; clear 1966 PF certificate. (Image) 8,500.00

SOLD for $3,750.00
Closing..Oct-18, 05:30 PM
777 og J12 image#J12, 10c Deep brown special printing, a handsome appearing mint example of this postage due rarity, being fairly well centered amid unusually wide margins, strong rich color and impression, full o.g., light crease and a couple of thin spots endemic to these difficult stamps, nearly very fine appearance; only approximately 174 of this value ever reached the public; 1984 PF certificate. (Image) 4,000.00

SOLD for $1,600.00
Closing..Oct-18, 05:30 PM
778 ng J13 image#J13, 30c Deep brown special printing, unused, with traces of o.g., fairly well centered within large margins, rich characteristic color, small faults including a couple of thin spots and nibbed perfs., fine appearance for this very rare stamp; only 179 were issued to the public; 1972 PF certificate.
