1376 O RB2ac image#RB2ac, 2c Green and black on violet paper, Inverted Center, blue handstamp cancel, deep colors, centered just a bit to right, accompanying certificate mentions a thin spot at bottom right and a repair at top left (the latter is terribly insignificant), fine for this. The example of this Inverted Center on violet paper is one of only two in existence. The other was sold by this firm in our January 2000 sale of the Larry Lyons collection. The Lyons copy had a horizontal crease and a thin spot. It was acquired in the auction by a dealer for $22,000.00, who subsequently sold it after the auction to a collector. Therefore, this is now the only example available to collectors, as the Lyons copy is tied up in a major collection, presumably not to be sold for many years. Unquestionably one of the highlights of the entire Ballman collection. Literally a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire not only one of the great rarities of United States revenues, but also one of the great philatelic treasures of the world. An essential stamp for either the collector with the hope of completing a collection of United States revenues or for the specialist in Inverted Centers of the world. Accompanied by a 1993 PF certificate. (Image) 40,000.00
