970 og PR97 image#PR97, 36c Pink, strong color in the distinctive Bureau Issue shade, centered to the right, full o.g., small thin spot and a couple really minor natural gum creases, fine appearance; the immense rarity of this stamp can be evidenced by the fact that our firm has offered several major newspaper collections in recent years, all of which contained many impressive rarities, however not a single one of them (including Weisman, "Pell-Mel", Lyons, Lessin and Ballman) included an example of #PR97; 2002 PF certificate. (Image) 20,000.00

SOLD for $8,500.00
Closing..Mar-07, 05:30 PM
971 og PR98 image#PR98, 60c Pink, wonderfully fresh, strong color in the pastel shade characteristic only to the Bureau printings, crisp impression, attractively centered, full o.g., relatively lightly hinged, two tiny covered over surface scrapes which are truly insignificant and practically undetectable (so much so that they are not mentioned on the 1994 PF certificate although they were certainly present then), very fine for this; despite the trivial scrapes, this still ranks as the finest of the few known examples, as all others we are aware of have faults to some degree and none are centered any better than this example; not only one of the keys to completing the newspaper stamps, but one of the great rarities of United States philately; clear 1994 PF certificate and a 2002 PF certificate; ex-Lutwak. (Image) 25,000.00

SOLD for $21,000.00
