Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
1061 og 41 image#41, 3c Scarlet reprint, without gum as issued, a gem example of this very scarce and perennially difficult reprint, featuring outstanding centering for this, especially when one considers how poorly centered many of these can come, with much larger margins than usual, strong vibrant color and a crisp impression on bright paper, extremely fine; among the finest available of the 479 issued; 2003 PF certificate. (Image) 3,500.00

1062 og 44 image#44, 12c Greenish black reprint, without gum as issued, a most impressive example of this reprint rarity, possessing huge margins for this, with its perforations well clearing the design all around which is a very rare occurrence, wonderfully well centered, plus its color and impression are truly prooflike on especially bright paper, an extremely fine gem; one of the finest of the 479 issued; 2003 PF certificate. (Image) 3,500.00

1861-1866 Issues
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
1063 og 64 image#64, 3c Pink, an incredibly choice example of this exceedingly rare mint 19th century stamp, being in a quality quite unlike the vast majority of the small number of known mint copies, possessing a marvelous overall freshness, rich unmistakable Pink color, exceptionally well centered within large margins, pristine full o.g. which shows just the barest trace of hinging (if at all), accompanying certificate inexplicably calls the stamp "slightly toned" with which we respectfully disagree, otherwise extremely fine; 1971 PF certificate; ex-Chapin. (Image) 9,000.00

SOLD for $5,250.00
Closing..Oct-17, 12:00 PM
1064 O 64 image#64, 3c Pink, choice used single with neat portion of New York c.d.s. and rimless grid duplex, fresh pink color, very well centered being surrounded by attractive even perforations, very fine. (Image) 800.00

SOLD for $750.00
Closing..Oct-17, 12:00 PM
1065 nhPB 65 #65, 3c Rose, an absolutely superb bottom left corner sheet-margin imprint and plate "No. 52" block of fourteen (7x2), in a quality that is almost unimaginable for any multiple from this period, let alone a rare plate number block, possessing true "post office" freshness and crispness, with rich luxuriant color and a well incised impression, the centering throughout the multiple is quite remarkable, with nearly every stamp being virtually perfectly centered, pristine o.g., never hinged, there are a couple of sensibly rejoined perf. separations in the bottom right margin barely worth mentioning, extremely fine; unquestionably the finest plate block of Scott #65 known; 1992 PF certificate; ex-Anderson. (Image) for hinged 5,150.00+

SOLD for $4,750.00
Closing..Oct-17, 12:00 PM
1066 O 67 image#67, 5c Buff, a very pretty used example of this issue with large portion of central blue Baltimore, Md. c.d.s., which wonderfully contrasts with intense deep color of the stamp, beautifully centered on bright white paper, extremely fine and choice. (Image) 820.00

SOLD for $675.00
Closing..Oct-17, 12:00 PM
1067 og 68a image#68a, 10c Dark green, a remarkably choice mint example of this surprisingly difficult and, in our opinion, undercataloged stamp, being in a quality far superior to most, incredibly fresh and crisp, with the most intense color and impression imaginable in a dark green shade, wonderfully well centered within large margins, particularly clean full o.g. that has been lightly hinged only once, extremely fine for this; far more rare in this condition than many collectors realize; 2002 PF certificate. (Image) 950.00

SOLD for $1,275.00
Closing..Oct-17, 12:00 PM
1068 O 70 image#70, 24c Red lilac, used, virtually perfect centering within unusually large margins for this value, strong rich color, very lightly cancelled, extremely fine; an elusive stamp so choice; 2002 PF certificate. (Image) 200.00

SOLD for $2,800.00
Closing..Oct-17, 12:00 PM
1070 og 70c image#70c, 24c Violet on thin paper, an immensely rare mint example of this distinctive and often misidentified shade, with lovely rich color and a strong characteristic impression, while centered to the bottom left, this is actually much better centering than most of the few other mint examples known to us, nearly full original gum (certificate states "part o.g."), minor h.r., tiny perf. thin at top left, very fine appearance; 2001 PF certificate. (Image) 10,000.00

SOLD for $2,000.00
Closing..Oct-17, 12:00 PM
1071 ogbl 71 image#71, 30c Orange, a magnificent quality mint block of four of this rare and difficult stamp, possessing extraordinary physical attributes, among which is its overall brilliance and crispness, with absolutely radiant color and a sharp impression, beautifully centered (especially when one considers how tightly spaced this particular value is found), full clean o.g., lightly hinged, very fine-extremely fine; in all likelihood the finest quality multiple in existence, and the top right stamp in this block is easily the finest 1861 Thirty Cent Orange we can imagine; 1976 and 1992 PF certificates; ex-DuPuy and Anderson. (Image) 8,250.00

SOLD for $19,000.00
Closing..Oct-17, 12:00 PM
1072 O 71 image#71, 30c Orange, a most extraordinary quality used example, boasting not only extravagantly large margins which are most uncharacteristic of this value, but it is perfectly centered within these impressive margins as well, lovely vibrant color on fresh paper, excellent neat strike of a fancy segmented cork postmark, plus just a trace of a red cancel, an extremely fine used gem; a true condition rarity; 2002 PF certificate; the Scott catalog notes "Values for No. 71 are for copies with small margins, especially at sides. Large margined examples sell for much more." (Image) 185.00

SOLD for $550.00
Closing..Oct-17, 12:00 PM

(Image) 26,000.00

SOLD for $19,000.00

(Image) 375.00

SOLD for $525.00

1079 ng 77 image#77, 15c Black, an incredibly handsome unused example of this perennially difficult stamp, possessing margins of extraordinary size and being marvelously well centered within them, prooflike color and impression, stamp is accompanied by two conflicting certificates, an older one stating the stamp has disturbed o.g., while a recently obtained certificate states regummed, we are of the opinion that the older certificate is correct, nevertheless this is an extremely fine example of a terribly elusive unused 19th century stamp; 1988 and 2003 PF certificates; ex-Chapin. (Image) 1,000.00
