Hawaii continued...
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
1861 ogO Hawaii substantial balance of a large specialized collection, in two albums plus some loose material on stockcards and stockpages, includes mint and used from the 1853-68 Kamehameha Issues, with a 5c Manuscript provisional present (appears to be genuine but not valued in our estimate), an extensive showing of the Numerals, with over 80 stamps, nearly all of which are plated, and includes scarcer values such as four examples of the 2c Light blue (#13), solid showing of the American Bank Note issues, including the Provisional Govt. overprints, with most values present both mint and used as well as in mint blocks, plus other multiples, varieties, a few proofs, etc., the collection concludes with revenue stamps (including multiples) and better Kahului Railroad Stamp values, the early issues are of course in mixed condition, from the Bank Notes on the collection is generally quite clean, with the majority being o.g. and fine-very fine; Hawaii collections this extensive and valuable are seldom offered at public auction today. Est. 7,500-10,000

SOLD for $60,000.00

1862 c Hawaii interesting postal history collection of nearly 250 covers, 140 of which are 20th century philatelic usages, almost all of the value is in the over 100 19th century, including a couple better stampless, some good U.S. usages including 10c 1861 Issue strip of three on cover from Hawaii to U.S. and another similar strip of three on cover from the U.S. to Hawaii, Hawaiian usages include foreign destinations, unusual markings, better town cancels, business corner cards, several used postal stationery (some with additional stamps tied), while condition is decidedly mixed, this is a good representation of the varied postal history of Hawaii, and viewing of this lot should surely prove to be worthwhile.
