2008 og S.G. #153d imageS.G. #153d, 1907 "Kingston Relief Fund/1d" surcharge on 2p Slate and orange, tete-beche pair normal and inverted, variety is the center pair in a mint vertical strip of four, fresh, o.g., light hinge reinforcement to center perfs. to prevent separation, very fine; this variety occurs because the setting was not as large as the sheet and required being put in the press more than once, in this case inverted in one pass, a very scarce error; 1961 RPS certificate (Scott #B1, B1b; tete-beche variety not listed). (Image) S.G. £850

SOLD for $750.00

2009 og S.G. #153f imageS.G. #153f, 1907 "Kingston Relief Fund/1d" surcharge on 2p Slate and orange, inverted surcharge in vertical pair, one normal, one double, the top stamp being distinctly double surcharged, each being a strong equal impression, displaced by a little over 1/2mm, o.g., double surcharged stamp n.h., very fine; like the tete-beche strip above this variety is caused by the fact that surcharging the full sheet required more than one pass in the press, in this case one pass was shifted one stamp lower causing a row to be printed twice; Stanley Gibbons does not make clear whether their listing is for inverted or upright overprints, but it can exist either way for the same reasons, only priced used and this pair is purported to be the only known mint example (Scott #B1, B1e; se-tenant variety not listed). (Image) S.G. £340+
