2228 O 4b image#4b, 1907 2 1/2p Orange, horizontal pair, imperforate between, a particularly attractive example of this rare variety, neatly cancelled, each stamp with central strike of "Tulagi/British Solomon Ids./7 OC 1907" c.d.s., excellent bright color, attractive centering just touching frame at top, which is far better than the vast majority of the imperforate between pairs, which almost always cut the design on one or more sides, accompanying certificate mentions "a tiny pinhole between the stamps", which we think is overly harsh as it is natural and so minute and trivial as to be barely detectable, a very fine and choice rarity of this interesting first issue; 1987 PF certificate; ex-Gilbert (S.G. #4b; £4,250).
