2381 og C1a image#C1a, 1930 10M Gray lilac with "Zeppelin/1830" overprint, "1830" for "1930" error, position 86, an impressive example of this very scarce variety, exceptionally well centered, colors are bright and fresh, o.g., extremely fine; only one position in the sheet of 100 had this error, so 500 examples were actually made, however, only 200-300 were sold before it was discovered, it was then withdrawn and kept for exchange purposes by the postal museum; signed Kessler and others and accompanied by a 1990 PF certificate (Facit #165v; SK14,000). IX. 30" bilingual c.d.s., without flight cachet, but obviously making trip with large Friedrichshafen c.d.s. of September 25th on the reverse, minor edge wrinkles, otherwise very fine; covers required 20 Markkas postage, but virtually all covers have two special overprinted stamps, occasionally they were sent with two unoverprinted stamps, to have one overprinted and the other not is extremely unusual, Roger Koerber commented in 1978 that this usage could be unique, indicating he had never seen another (Sieger €675). 2392 c Sieger #441 Sieger #441, 1936 Tenth North American Flight of the "Hindenburg", an unusual mixed franking of six Finnish adhesives and four German adhesives. all tied by various cancels on October 2, 1936, with a Stockholm transit of that same day, posted to Costa Rica, red lilac flight cachet, backstamped San Jose, Costa Rica, slight postal wear which is to be expected considering its travels, very fine; a scarce and unusual posting, Finnish "Hindenburg" covers are not common, and to be a mixed franking with a Costa Rican destination is quite rare; this flight not listed by Sieger as a treaty-state posting under Finland. 2394 c Finland extensive Graf Zeppelin cover collection consisting of 61 flown covers and cards, starts with two covers and two cards of the Baltic Sea Flight, each with proper 10M "Zeppelin/1930" overprint frankings (one cover with pair, other with two singles), then includes a very comprehensive collection of the South American flights, 1932 is complete from the Second South American flight, which was the first treat-state posting of Finland, 1933 is also complete for all nine flights including the Chicago Flight, and 1934 is nearly complete, lacking only the fifth and seventh out out the twelve flights., plus four different flights of 1935, there are from one to four of each of these flights, some being different in their destination, occasional cover flaw, most are clean and fine-very fine or better (Sieger #89/308).
