Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
170 og 539 image#539, 2c Carmine rose coil waste, Ty. II, perf. 11x10, fresh and relatively well centered example of this rare type that most frequently is found poorly centered, the full even perforations are well clear of the design all around, radiant color with sharp impression, o.g. with just a trace of hinging, very fine for this scarce stamp; photocopy of a 1971 PF certificate for a block of four and a 1989 PSE certificate for the single. (Image) 2,750.00

SOLD for $2,300.00
Closing..Oct-17, 09:00 AM
171 O 544 image#544, 1c Green coil waste, perf. 11, a select used single of this extremely scarce and difficult stamp, possessing far better centering than usual with perforations well clear of the design all around, a feature not often found on this issue, bright and attractive color and showing a detailed sharp impression, unobtrusive portion of black boxed handstamp cancel, very fine; a choice example of this rare stamp of which probably no more than 100 used copies exist, particularly desirable in this premium grade which is priced by Scott in the grade of only fine; 1982 PF certificate. (Image) 3,250.00

SOLD for $4,000.00
Closing..Oct-17, 09:00 AM
172 O 594 image#594, 1c Green coil waste, one of the most impressive appearing used examples of this exceedingly rare 20th century stamp that we have had the pleasure to offer, possessing outstanding centering within large to huge margins that are totally uncharacteristic for this stamp, the vast majority having considerably smaller margins and usually touching or cutting into the design on one or more sides (the Scott value is for perforations just touching on one side), surrounded by full even perforations, sumptuous bright color and detailed impression, and to complete the stunning aspect of this stamp is a black cancel that is so light that at first glance the stamp appears unused, accompanying certificate mentions several small flaws, most of which are quite minor, including a corner crease at top left, but none detract from this stamp's tremendous extremely fine gem appearance; it is doubtful that one could find another example of this stamp, sound or otherwise, that would equal the striking visage of the stamp offered here; 1999 PF certificate. (Image) 6,750.00

SOLD for $7,000.00
Closing..Oct-17, 09:00 AM

175 og J4 image#J4, 5c Brown, fresh and well centered example of one of the key values of the first issue, rich color, full sharp impression, full o.g., relatively lightly hinged, very fine and choice; 2002 PF certificate. (Image) 700.00

176 og J7 image#J7, 50c Brown, extraordinarily attractive mint single, being very well centered, set within large margins and clean full perforations, intense deep color with excellent impression on fresh bright paper, full o.g., very lightly hinged, extremely fine and a premium example of this high value; 2002 PF certificate. (Image) 575.00

SOLD for $325.00
Closing..Oct-17, 09:00 AM
177 nh J8 image#J8, 1c Deep brown special printing, a fresh example of this extremely rare special printing, with strong rich color and prooflike impression, both the hallmarks of the special printings, centered to the right as most known examples are, not only does this stamp have full original gum (which the majority of examples lack), but is never hinged as well (very rare), fine; despite the published issuance numbers, experience has shown that they are very much in error with vast majority of this value sold as special printings believed to have been the normal production printing making this one of the rarest values; 1995 PF certificate. (Image) for hinged 17,500.00

SOLD for $5,000.00
Closing..Oct-17, 09:00 AM
178 og J9 image#J9, 2c Deep brown special printing, a seldom offered sound mint example of this special printing rarity, quite well centered, strong characteristic color and impression on bright paper, large part o.g., light h.r., some perforations a bit gum stained (soaked) not affecting its overall facial appearance, still very fine; an incredibly rare stamp in any quality, but especially so still retaining a large part of its original gum and without the typical thinning so often seen on these; Scott lists the quantity issued at 1,361, but it is widely accepted that only a tiny fraction of this number were actually sold as special printings; signed J.M. Bartels and accompanied by 1970 and 1999 PF certificates; ex-Lyons. (Image) 9,500.00

SOLD for $5,250.00
Closing..Oct-17, 09:00 AM
179 og J10 image#J10, 3c Deep brown special printing, mint example of the most elusive value of all the Postage Due Special Printings, deep color and detailed sharp impression, both characteristic of this issue, centered to right with perfs. barely touching as is frequently the case on this value, slightly disturbed o.g., small gum covered thin spot, otherwise fine; only 436 stamps were issued, but only a tiny fraction of these still survive; 1998 PF certificate. (Image) 14,000.00

SOLD for $4,500.00
Closing..Oct-17, 09:00 AM
180 ng J11 image#J11, 5c Deep brown special printing, an impressive appearing unused example of this notoriously difficult rarity, being wonderfully well centered and far better than the vast majority of the small population of only 249 stamps that were issued, surrounded by full even perforations, fresh rich color and a razor-sharp impression, small thins and a couple of small edge tears, not detracting from the extremely fine appearance of a stamp that virtually never has a facial presentation as attractive as this; 1985 PF certificate. (Image) 9,250.00

SOLD for $3,250.00
Closing..Oct-17, 09:00 AM
