990 ogO U1/521, UC1/UO72 #U1/521, UC1/UO72, Substantial and comprehensive cut square collection consisting of a total 641 items collected both mint and used, the mint is impressive and consists of 480 different Scott numbers starting with the first Nesbitt issue and going through the 1925 1 1/2c surcharges, plus airmails and 38 different officials including a rare 2c Dark red (#UO19; 1mm piece hinged to the bottom to even margins) and attractive examples of #UO62 and UO69, nearly all the officials are nice size including a number of full corners, the used consists of 160 virtually all different, though they frequently duplicate the mint, rarely a second copy is included to show shades or cancels, while the number of used is fairly substantial the catalog value only amounts to about 10% of the total, this is a neatly housed working collection that is arranged on black stock pages, with slips listing the Scott number, UPSS die number and catalog values which are four or five years old, the regular issues are quite extensive, both mint and used, with numerous better items cataloging $200.00-$300.00 up to $1,000.00 or more, there are far too many to list but a few highlights include mint full corners of #U134, U200 and U276 plus others, examination will reveal many other desirable items, condition is also well above average, sizes do vary and an occasional fault will be found, but the vast majority are of good size and throughout are found many with lavish margins and full corners, overall at least fine-very fine with most very fine or better; an important and valuable collection. 42,950.00

Whitington mounted collection of mint cut squares, consists of hundreds of attractive and desirable cut squares housed in two Scott National albums, starts with five different 3c values of the first issue and goes right up to 1999, the most significant portion consists of the 19th century issues, including officials, through the surcharges of the 1920's with a total of over 400 different from this period, includes items to several hundred dollars catalog value each and has virtually all the lesser values, virtually complete from the mid-1920's to date including air posts and later officials, includes some full entires, throughout are desirable items and the overall condition is outstanding, the vast majority are collected in full corners and usually of larger than normally seen sizes, making many items the best quality obtainable, some higher catalog value items will grade only very fine, but the majority are extremely fine; a wonderful collection for one wishing to start a quality collection to build upon, or for the retailer who handles select high quality material. 18,675.00

Whitington Collection, consisting of 150 entires including 32 officials, starts with the first Nesbitt issue including a scarce #U4 (soiling), includes a specialized study of the 1c Blue star die entires (includes nine used, the only used in the collection), many nice Reay and Plimpton issues are present including high values with Scott catalog values to $200.00-300.00, plus some better value officials including high values, the overall condition is excellent in keeping with the high standards that Mr. Whitington applied to all his postal stationery collecting, the vast majority are fresh and clean, and grade very fine to extremely fine with very few exceptions; a wonderful basis of quality material upon which a collection can be built. 18,300.00

1000 ogc UX31 image#UX31, "1 cent" surcharge on 2c Red on cream, a choice mint example of the so-called "one line surcharge" rarity, crisp and fresh, both sides clean and nice sharp corners, extremely fine; this surcharge was used experimentally in Washington, D.C. and was deemed unsatisfactory being immediately withdrawn, making this one of the scarcest and most desired postal cards (UPSS #43).
