1861-1866 Issues
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
1103 og 64 image#64, 3c Pink, an extremely rare and choice mint example of one of the most elusive of all 19th century stamps to locate mint and in sound condition, this remarkable stamp is even more desirable as it is not only completely sound but is in premium condition as well, being incredibly fresh with intensely rich and true "pink" color (not at all oxidized which affects most singles), plus it is quite well centered within large margins, especially clean full o.g., lightly hinged, very fine; even the great collections of the past few years (Weisman, Zoellner, Golin, Lyons, Floyd, Lessin) either did not have a mint example of a Scott #64 or had one that simply does not compare in quality to the exceptional copy offered here; 1994 and 2003 PF certificates; ex-McKinney. (Image) $9,500.00

SOLD for $8,500.00
Closing..Jun-11, 11:30 AM
1104 og 64 image#64, 3c Pink, a very rare sound mint example of this often misidentified stamp, particularly fresh with strong unmistakable pink color and a sharp impression, crisp intact perforations all around, attractively centered, full clean o.g. that has been only very lightly hinged, very fine for this rarity which is on virtually every major collector's want list; 1992 PF certificate. (Image) $9,500.00

SOLD for $4,250.00
Closing..Jun-11, 11:30 AM
1105 O 64 image#64, 3c Pink, used, fresh color, well centered, neat portion of a New York c.d.s. and rimless grid duplex, tiny perforation repair at bottom left, very fine appearance; 2004 PF certificate. (Image) $850.00

SOLD for $625.00
Closing..Jun-11, 11:30 AM
1106 nh 65 image#65, 3c Rose, brilliantly fresh and crisp, rich luxuriant color and a deeply etched impression, wonderfully well centered within large margins, pristine o.g., never hinged, extremely fine; 1990 PF certificate; ex-Lessin.. (Image) for hinged 130.00

SOLD for $210.00
Closing..Jun-11, 11:30 AM
1107 og 66 image#66, 3c Lake, wonderfully fresh mint example of this rare trial printing, with especially deep rich color and a razor-sharp impression, fairly well centered, full o.g., nearly very fine for this seldom offered stamp; 1971 and 1992 PF certificates; ex-Sheriff. (Image) $2,000.00

SOLD for $1,450.00
Closing..Jun-11, 11:30 AM
1108 og 69 image#69, 12c Black, a magnificent quality mint example whose equal we have never had the pleasure of offering in our auctions, possessing exceptional overall physical qualities that are surprisingly lacking on most other existing mint copies, including being incredibly fresh overall, with intensely rich color and a highly detailed impression on crisp paper, marvelously well centered within exceptionally large margins which are most uncharacteristic, even its reverse is impressive, boasting especially clean full o.g. which has been only lightly hinged, extremely fine in every regard; the rarity of this stamp in such outstanding original gum condition is underscored by the fact that virtually none of the great mint collections sold over the past half decade (Weisman, Zoellner, Golin, Lyons, Lessin, McKinney) had an example that comes even remotely close to the quality of the stamp offered here; 2004 PF certificate. (Image) 1,700.00

SOLD for $6,750.00
Closing..Jun-11, 11:30 AM
1109 og 69 image#69, 12c Black, uncommonly well centered for this scarce mint stamp, large margins, strong color and impression, full fresh original gum, lightly hinged, choice very fine; a terribly elusive stamp to find fresh with full original gum; 1992 PF certificate. (Image) $1,700.00

1112 O 70 image#70, 24c Red lilac, a most remarkable quality example of this notoriously difficult stamp, possessing near perfect centering amid margins that are lavishly large and most uncharacteristic of any of the Twenty Four Cent shades of 1861-62, plus its color is in an especially deep and luxuriant shade of red lilac, sharp detailed impression on bright paper, wonderfully postmarked with a light central strike of a black grid and a portion of a red town cancel, extremely fine; a lovely used gem; 2004 PF certificate. (Image) 215.00

SOLD for $575.00
Closing..Jun-11, 11:30 AM
1113 og 70a image#70a, 24c Brown lilac, an incredibly choice mint example of a stamp that is terribly challenging to find in such premium quality, featuring a wonderful overall freshness, with lovely rich color and a crisp detailed impression on bright paper, particularly well centered and margined, full o.g., certainly extremely fine overall; actually a rare stamp in this outstanding quality; 1998 PF certificate; ex-Lessin. Closing..Jun-11, 11:30 AM

(Image) $7,000.00

SOLD for $3,250.00
Closing..Jun-11, 11:30 AM

1867 Grilled Issues
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
1119 O 79 image#79, 3c Rose, "A" grill, a most impressive appearing used example of this scarce stamp, featuring outstanding centering amid lavishly large margins which are almost unheard of on the "A" grill, plus its perforations all around are essentially intact which is a rare occurrence as well, bright fresh color, neat circle of wedges pmk., couple of trivial corner creases at top right, otherwise extremely fine for this; clear 1955 PF certificate. (Image) $1,350.00
