Est. 4,000-5,000

2562 og/nhO S.G. #116/121e S.G. #116/121e, 1938-53 2/- to £1 King George VI Key Plate specialized collection, this enormous balance collection contains hundreds of mostly mint in singles, pairs and blocks of just these six values, the basis of this is a plating study of two volumes showing the positions over the course of the numerous printings for each value and how the flaws and plating marks evolved, the write-ups are extensive and interesting, unfortunately many of the items have been removed and arranged in a stock book by printing, this was probably done because of new information about printings and renumbering of the Stanley Gibbons catalog, however many items have notes indicating printing, Stanley Gibbons number and in many cases position so that the material could be reorganized and made again the basis for a beautiful plating study of these interesting issues, most printings of each value are represented to some degree, condition overall is quite nice, mint has original gum and in many cases is never hinged, only occasional flaws are present including a very minor amount of gum toning which is quite normal on certain printings, the vast majority is at least fine-very fine with much being better than that; this is without a doubt the most impressive collection of these issues that we have ever handled or has come on the market in many years, it is ideal for the specialist to use as a basis for an award-winning collection to which rarities can be added, or it is a marvelous stock for the specialist dealer of this area; examination required to fully appreciate the scope of this lot; Stanley Gibbons catalog value is well in excess of £45,000 (Scott #123/128b). Est. 15,000-20,000

SOLD for $13,000.00
Closing..Jun-12, 11:30 AM
2563 nhObl Queen Elizabeth II period extensive collection in twelve albums and binders, very comprehensive following the pattern of sets of singles, both mint and used, plus blocks of four up to 1970, then four sets of plate blocks of four for each issue having the 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D plate number blocks for each value virtually complete up to 1998 with a few later, in the earlier issues there are some varieties, we note a vertical strip of four of Stanley Gibbons #165 with large portion of the blue omitted and #170 block of four with dramatic shift in the colors, also inverted watermarks and certain issues have extra material showing plate flaws or overprint varieties, o.g. or used, condition is normally quite clean though a few items have some toning, these are very insignificant in the total scope of this collection which overall is very fine; there is a great quantity of material here that adds up surprisingly quickly as the Stanley Gibbons catalog value is over £12,000 priced as singles. Est. 2,000-3,000

SOLD for $2,700.00
Closing..Jun-12, 11:30 AM
2564 nhbl Queen Elizabeth II period mint sheet accumulation consisting of over 500 panes or double panes, plus partial sheets, numerous blocks, plate blocks of four and souvenir sheets, the usual format for this period was to print sheets in four panes of fifty with plate numbers for each color of 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D assigned to the four panes, this accumulation contains many of the commemorative sets of the 1970's and 1980's with two half sheets for each value totaling all four panes with gutters between each two, also some single panes of 25, commemoratives are in complete sets but also includes some of the definitives including high values to $8.00 in double panes totaling full sheets like the commemoratives, most issues for which there are sheets also have plate blocks and other multiples, plus blocks for sets which do not have sheets so there are hundreds of blocks present, o.g., n.h., some gum toning present which is typical of this country and because of size there are selvage faults to some sheets, which usually do not affect the stamps, most are fine-very fine; this accumulation is huge with a Stanley Gibbons catalog value of tens of thousands of pounds if totaled and just the face value would be thousands of dollars. Est. 3,000-4,000

SOLD for $3,500.00
Closing..Jun-12, 11:30 AM

Est. 1,000-1,500

SOLD for $1,800.00
