1909 Bluish Papers continued...
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
161 og 363 image#363, 8c Olive green on bluish paper, wonderfully well centered example, possessing much larger margins than normally associated with this bluish paper rarity, especially when compared to the small existing population, strong rich color and impression, full clean o.g. that has been lightly hinged, very fine and choice. This value, like the Four Cent of this series, was never intended to be issued to the public. Approximately 90 examples of this were released in an exchange with the Post Office Department in Washington, D.C. to obtain other rarities for the nation's collection. Of the fewer than 90 examples that exist in private hands, this particular copy is among the more desirable with its attractive centering and large margins. One of the great rarities of the 20th century. Accompanied by a 1993 PF certificate. (Image) $27,500.00

SOLD for $17,000.00
