1433 O 1 var. image#1 var., 1852 5c Blue, horizontal interpanneau pair, being positions 5 and 26 from Plate III, large margins all around, deep rich color and a crisp detailed impression, Amsterdam c.d.s. postmarks, very fine. The interpanneau pairs are the key rarities of the first issue of Netherlands, as only a few examples of each value are known. The rarity of these pairs becomes evident when one realizes that some of the greatest collections of all time lacked them. Ferrary and Caspary did not have any examples, and even the Burrus collection, which had many Netherlands first issue rarities (including full mint panes of twenty-five of all three values) did not have a single interpanneau pair. Further contributing to this particular pair's rarity is the fact that there is no crease in the interpanneau, as nearly all other examples have a crease. An important showpiece of classical Europe and a cornerstone for a Netherlands First Issue exhibit. Accompanied by a 2004 Dr. Louis certificate. (Image) Est. 15,000-20,000
