513 nhPB 362 image#362, 6c Red orange on bluish paper, a spectacular full top margin imprint and plate no. 4938 block of six, possessing not only a remarkable overall brilliance, but it is also in a condition which is unequaled, boasting absolutely radiant color and impression on bright paper, exceptionally well centered, o.g., never hinged, couple of typical tiny natural inclusion specks, endemic to bluish paper stamps, remarkably crisp with fully intact perforations, extremely fine.It is believed that less than a total of fifteen plate blocks of this rare bluish paper exist. Of this tiny census only three full top positions are recorded, this being the only one that is never hinged. This plate block has not made an appearance in the marketplace in more than 25 years, when it last sold in a 1980 Greg Manning Auction for a hammer price of $18,000.00 against a then current catalog value of only $8,000.00.The plate block offered here represents an important opportunity for the collector building a truly great plate block collection consisting of only the finest available examples; 1974 PF certificate.
