(Image) Est. 1,000-1,500

(Image) Est. 400-500

129 ogbl 2b/zb image#2b/zb, 1p Red, Die I, double perforation, a showpiece bottom right margin JBC monogram block of 18 (6x3) being the two bottom rows of the right-hand pane, displaying double perforations in the bottom sheet selvage only, causing the multiple to have several off center stamps that were unacceptable to P.O. inspectors, positions 43-48 and 55-59 are original stamps, the others having been substituted in from another sheet by the printer and, in essence, "pieced" together with small gummed strips, o.g., some slight gum toning and with understandable small faults, nonetheless quite remarkable for its crudity and its issuance to stock for sale to the general public rather than being punctured "OS" for Departmental use, as was often the case with poorly centered stamps. (Image) Est. 1,000-1,500

SOLD for $950.00
Will close during Public Auction

131 nhbl 2za image#2za, 1p Red, Die I, bottom right corner margin no monogram block of twelve from the right pane of Plate B, from a very early Plate B sheet evidenced by the manual separation from Plate C sheet below (guillotining between the sheets was quickly introduced), quite fresh, well centered, o.g., n.h., lightly folded along horizontal perforations, some perf. separations in selvage of second vertical row from the right, overall very fine and handsome (for hinged $600+).
