1935 KING GEORGE V PICTORIALS PROOFS
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
2340 P image1935 King George Pictorial Waterlow file die proof for the King's portrait, an unusual proof that shows how various dies were used in the inner workings of the security printers, this portrait proof is very similar to the master die that was eventually produced for the Cayman Islands, at top is inscribed in manuscript "Cayman Isles" and at bottom "Taken from Nthn Rhodesia", also has revised die no. 10467a and proof no. 3604, the original die 10467 evidently had a larger portion of the Rhodesia design as there is evidence that this image was extracted and the rest of the design removed, very fine for this unique production file proof; ex-Green.
