1312 ogOblc 1/906, C1/44 #1/906, C1/44, Valuable old-time collection housed in six quadrille albums, not only are there mint and used single stamps, but there is tremendous value in the many scarce mint blocks present, plus there are better covers, some varieties and even a few proofs, the collection starts off strong with the 1847 Issue, represent by six Five Cent values (two on cover) and four Ten Cent values (two on cover), plus a plate proof pair of the 5c overprinted "Specimen", most of the value in the later 19th century is in the blocks of four (or larger), as the collector was in the process of transferring the single stamps to a Scott National album (see lot %&$#), the mint blocks includes #11 (block of nine), 36b (six), 37, three different shades of the 1857 3c, two 2c Black Jacks, 1869 Pictorials include a 2c, as well as a rare 2c Re-issue, and the 1c 1880 Re-issue, strong Bank Notes, with Continentals to the 6c and American printings to 90c (including #191 which catalogs $13,000.00), plus there are some interesting 19th century covers to be found, better turn-of-the-century blocks, excellent showing of Washington-Franklin coils including a pair of #356, Washington-Franklin blocks include #505 double error, #523, 524, 547, etc., first day covers start in the 1920's and include the scarce First Linn cachet of the 2c Harding, and the later issues are represented by blocks and/or first day covers, plus there is a solid volume of air posts that are mostly blocks and covers, the blocks including two sets of the Graf Zeppelin set, while the covers include #C3 first flight, #C15 FDC and another flown cover, plus later first flights including some premium items, condition is a little mixed as to be expected on such an old-time collection, some of the blocks are hinged in more than one place, but with a little care and patience, many fine-very fine stamps and blocks will be found; an extraordinary true original collection, the likes of which are rarely offered at public auction; ex-Laurence H. 1313 ogO High cataloging most mint collection to 1962 in two Scott albums, these stamps were once part of the original collection (lot #1312) that the collector was in the process of transferring single stamps from the quadrille album to these two Scott National albums, therefore some issues are complete, while others are lacking altogether, the collector managed to fill in most of the early issues, nearly all of which are mint or unused, with just a few used stamps present, includes the 1847 Issue (10c used), plus the two Reprint stamps, 1851 Issue to 12c and includes a used 5c value, 1857 Issue to 90c, 1861-66 to 90c and includes a 5c Buff and other high cataloging stamps, a complete and fresh set of the 1869 Pictorials is present, Bank Notes include the Nationals to 90c, Continentals to 30c and Americans to 90c, Small Bank Notes complete, Columbians complete plus a second set to the 50c, Bureau issues to $5.00, Trans-Mississippi set to $1.00, 1902 Issue complete to $5.00, Washington-Franklins are a little spotty, but includes the first set complete to $1.00, Panama-Pacific includes #404, plus there are some blocks, back-of-the-book includes a solid run of official stamps and Confederate States General Issues complete (some used), condition will be mixed as always on a collection of this vintage, with full o.g., part o.g. and no gum stamps to be found, one or two cleaned cancels may even be present, still there are many scarce or rare stamps that are almost never seen in collection lots; ex-Laurence H.
