681 ogc U33 var. image#U33 var., 10c Green on buff, star die, die 11, size 7, knife 20, wmk. 1, a mint entire of this rarity in a most remarkable state of preservation, but in addition this mint entire bears a red Wells, Fargo and Co. printed frank to be used "through our California and Atlantic Express, plus blue "Victoria/Paid/V.I." for use out of Vancouver Island, fabulously bright and fresh, with strong color and embossing on immaculate paper, even its edges and corners are sharp and crisp, faint printing wrinkle at left on the front paper only, otherwise extremely fine; an enormously rare star die entire, but far scarcer with the franks that establish that a pre-paid envelope could be acquired for usage out of Vancouver island by Wells, Fargo and Co. Express; ex-Bleuler (UPSS #65). (Image) $4,500.00+
