Top plate no. 13469 block of six, bottom left stamp with transitional 11/10 gauge perforations at bottom, bottom center stamp also has transitional perfs, bottom right Perf 10, bottom center stamp lightly hinged, the other two varieties are Mint N.H., radiant color A FINE-VERY FINE AND EXTREMELY RARE PLATE BLOCK CONTAINING TWO MINT NEVER-HINGED AND ONE LIGHTLY-HINGED EXAMPLES OF THE 1917 11-CENT PERF 10 VARIETY. ONLY FOUR SUCH PLATE BLOCKS ARE KNOWN. AN OUTSTANDING EXHIBITION PIECE. We record the following plate blocks containing Scott 511a: 1) plate no. 13470 with two Perf 10 stamps in the bottom row, ex Zoellner, 2) plate no. 13467, off-center with perfs touching at right, 3) plate no. 13467, three Perf 10 stamps in the bottom row, including a transitional 11-to-10 gauge, 4) the example offered here with two transitional and one Perf 10 stamp in the bottom row.
