Jun. 20, 1859" datestamp, "SHIP 12" handstamp but we do not know if it originated in Hawaii, half are Fine-Very Fine but others have stains or faults, still a scarce and desirable group (Image)

90°   Image"Honolulu Nov. 14th 1857". Dateline on letter only (no address sheet or envelope) from William Chamberlain to his aunt and uncle Buchanan, comments incl. "the people generally wear clothes now, but many pull them off when they work hard. I have been laboring some time past in overseeing the construction of roads.", also "The postage is now so low that a letter prepaid will now come to us in little more than 2 months, and will cost only 13c. The postage in the States to California is only 6c.", also mentions how letters should be directed so that they do not go around Cape Horn, which takes four months longer, an interesting letter with postally relevant content (Image)
