Islds., U.S. Ship Vincennes, March 24th 1856", some fascinating content regarding the squadron: "It's just three years today since our little squadron was put in commission at New York and of all the vessels composing it ours is the only one permitted to start for home. 158°		10c Green, Ty. V (35). Rich color, used with vertical pair of 1c Blue, Ty. V (24), uncancelled at Honolulu as usual, red "Honolulu U.S. Postage Paid Dec. 31" (1860) circular datestamp on buff cover to Miss Almira L. Bartow in Brooklyn N.Y. (sister of Lahaina postmaster Cornelius S. Bartow), stamps tied by two strikes of "San Francisco Cal. Jan. 25, 1861" circular datestamp, vertical file fold to right of 10c, minor edgewear VERY FINE. AN ATTRACTIVE COVER FRANKED TO PAY THE 10-CENT TRANSCONTINENTAL RATE PLUS THE 2-CENT SHIP CAPTAIN'S FEE. This cover was carried on the bark Yankee, which departed Honolulu on Dec. 31, 1860, and arrived in San Francisco on Jan. 21, 1861, but it evidently missed that Monday's departure of the Butterfield overland stagecoach. It was postmarked Jan. 25 for the Friday stagecoach departure. Ex Adm.
