Folded printed circular with part-printed date and dated 1848 in error (should be 1849) to Sydney, New South Wales, sent from Starkey Janion & Co., the notice announces their intention to open an office in Yerba Buena in San Francisco with a fireproof stone building, red "Paid at Sydney" handstamp, also ornate "1 O'Clock" timestamp and manuscript "2" rate, "General Post Office*Sydney*MR*24, 1849" receiving backstamp, small repair and tear at top, all of the markings strengthened in ink, still Fine and rare "Gold Rush" period mail, ex Wilson (Image)
