1234 P Image1c-10c Louisiana Purchase, Small Die Proofs on Wove (323P2-327P2). Complete set, each on original gray card backing, spectacular fresh colors

VERY FINE AND CHOICE. A BEAUTIFUL COMPLETE SET OF ROOSEVELT ALBUM SMALL DIE PROOFS FOR THE 1904 LOUISIANA PURCHASE ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS MUCH RARER THAN ROOSEVELT PROOFS FOR THE EARLIER ISSUES.

In 1903, 85 Roosevelt presentation albums were prepared. The Louisiana Purchase Issue was not released until 1904 and so was not included in the initial album production. Several years after the albums were produced, ten were updated with stamp issues that came after 1903. Therefore, Roosevelt proofs of post-1903 issues are more than eight times rarer than proofs of the earlier issues. A Power Search review revealed that this is the first complete set we have offered since our 1978 Rarities of the World sale (Image)
