3181°		NEWFOUNDLAND, 1860, 5p Violet Brown, "CANCELLED" Handstamp (12A var; SG 13 var). Full margins, rich color, crisp strike at top left of the handstamp used by Perkins Bacon, minute and insignificant thin (not mentioned on certificate) VERY FINE. A HANDSOME EXAMPLE OF THIS VERY RARE PERKINS BACON "CANCELLED" HANDSTAMP. AN IMPORTANT RARITY OF NEWFOUNDLAND. Only one block of six was produced with this handstamp. This example is from position 6 of that block. The Jaffe book CANCELLED records just two examples, one of which is in the Royal Collection.
