Top imprint, plate no. 59 and letter "N" at right block of eight, original gum, lightly hinged, rich color, detailed impression, Pos. 2 and Pos. 6 vertical crease and natural paper crease FINE-VERY FINE. A SCARCE IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER BLOCK OF EIGHT OF THE 30-CENT COLUMBIAN ISSUE. ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE FROM THE TOP PLATE POSITION -- THIS IS THE FIRST PLATE BLOCK OF EIGHT WE HAVE OFFERED SINCE KEEPING COMPUTERIZED RECORDS. A Power Search review found only three top plate blocks of six offered in all of our sales, and no plate blocks of eight from the top position. A SCARCE SOUND ORIGINAL-GUM IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER BLOCK OF EIGHT OF THE 30-CENT COLUMBIAN ISSUE. A Power Search review (which includes all of our Rarities sales) indicates that we have only sold six plate blocks of six and five other plate blocks of eight, plus a block of 18 containing two imprint and plate no. multiples which has probably been broken. Bottom imprint, plate no. 77 and letter "S" at right block of eight, original gum, barely hinged except where thin spot is evident on positions 3 and 4, deep rich color and proof-like impression FINE-VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A DESIRABLE AND RARE IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER BLOCK OF EIGHT OF THE 50-CENT COLUMBIAN ISSUE. The 50c Columbian is far rarer as a plate number block of eight than six.
