1904, 10c Rose, "L" of "Canal" Sideways (10b). Single error in block of six, right center stamp the variety which is Position 68 on the sheet, h.r., radiant colorVERY FINE AND CHOICE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF
THE "CANAL ZONE" OVERPRINT WITH THE "L" OF "CANAL" SIDEWAYS. ONE OF THE MOST UNUSUAL OF ALL CANAL ZONE ERRORS. According to Canal Zone Stamps, this is the only example of a Canal Zone overprint where a letter is turned sideways. The
authorities noticed the error, and went to the trouble of removing and destroying the one stamp from each pane. 920 were destroyed -- 17 unused and four used are recorded. With 2003 P.F. certificate. As an indication of rarity, this is the first

believed that 120 were printed, of these only 20 are recorded (nine unused and eleven used) -- as the red bar at top indicates, this variety was created when the pane was fed too deeply into the press when the second half of the pane received the
