BRITISH COMMONWEALTH LARGE LOTS
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
575 og Australian States valuable mint collection balance containing numerous rarely seen mint/unused stamps from the earliest period, all six states well represented, the collection is filled with an impressive number of stamps cataloging £100-£1,000 and even higher, there is particular strength in the 1850-1870 period, and after that the collection is quite well filled, with many of the desirable turn-of-the-century sets and high values, also strong back-of-the-book such as postage dues, officials, postal fiscals, etc., while condition is mixed as one would expect, the quality is actually superior to what is usually encountered, with this collection having a notably minimal amount of possible cleaned cancels, repairs and misidentified stamps that are so prevalent in early unused Australian States; a wonderful opportunity to fill in a large number of challenging spaces at one time. Est. $7,500-10,000

576 og British Africa worthwhile mint balance through the King George VI issues of about 15 colonies that did not have sufficient value to run individually, though several of the colonies are complete, including Nigeria, Northern and Southern Nigeria (includes a well executed forgery of the £25 Northern Nigeria), Northern and Southern Rhodesia, Swaziland (the rare 10/- with a good PF cert. but a negative BPA cert.), Ascension, plus there are good showings of Kenya and Uganda, Tanganyika, German East Africa, Nyasaland, Zululand, and more, overall quite clean and highly saleable, with many popular definitive sets present, o.g. and largely fine-very fine. 577 og British Pacific mint collection of eight different islands, including Aitutaki, Cook Islands, Gilbert & Ellice, Nauru, New Hebrides, Niue, Penrhyn Islands and Solomon Islands, these colonies are complete per Scott or nearly so, there is an occasional duplicate, most o.g. and the majority is fine-very fine; a useful lot of quite saleable stamps. 578 og/nh British Commonwealth massive Queen Elizabeth II collection of all the colonies that were collected, starts with the first 1953 sets and goes to 2001, with most of the countries probably complete for the period, the early issues are generally in Scott Specialty albums (and usually lightly hinged), issues from the 1970's and 1980's are often arranged in stockbooks, and the most of the material from the 1990's is still in the original new issue envelopes, although we do note some recent issues housed in Lighthouse hingeless albums, souvenir sheets and sheetlets present, we note some of the more difficult areas such as the early 1980's Guyana surcharges are present, also one stockbook contains numerous gutter pairs from the 1970's, o.g., most n.h. except as noted above, fine-very fine; an excellent opportunity to obtain a significant portion of the QEII issues at one time, which would cost considerable multiples of our estimate if they were to be purchased one at a time. 579 ogO Worldwide miscellaneous balance of the Sovereign collection, wide range of items in ten stockbooks or albums, includes duplicates of both the British Commonwealth and Europe, with strength in Germany (note two mint Posthorn sets complete), album of used Canada and Australian States, two-volume Laos collection, some better British King George V sets and singles, a couple modest U.S. albums, and more, mixed condition.
