425 Oc   #210, 2c Red brown extensive specialized collection of hundreds of covers and many hundreds of used stamps mounted and loose in fourteen binders or albums, the collection starts with two #183 covers used Oct. 1st, the first day of the new 2c rate and continues with four Oct. 1, 1883 first day covers from different towns comprised of Saint Clair, Mich. with APS certificate (restored), Danville, N.J. with PF certificate (small faults), Wilmington, De. with PF certificate (stamp defective) and Philadelphia, Pa with PF certificate (faults) as well as the owner's census of 75 first day usages, the second volume is a collection of covers used in the first 100 days, including Oct. 2nd-6th and most later dates, followed by six "Specimen" or "Sample" overprints, then there are a wide range of covers, including illustrated and advertising with a two gun covers and a couple multicolored, there is also a plethora of fancy cancels such as Port Townsend kicking mule, Unionport, Ohio wheel of fortune and other unusual cancels on cover, there is also considerable value and interest in a bewildering array off cover fancy and unusual cancels such as purple skull and cross bones, jack-o-lantern, targets, stars, crosses, letters, numerals, scarce towns and more, the collection ends with two volumes of minor varieties and a great many cancels from the famous Willard collection, usual mixed condition but largely fine-very fine covers and strikes.
