The March 2010 Collector's Series Sale - March 10-12, 2010

Spink Shreves March 2010 Collector's Series Sale is filled with an exceptional range of highly desirable United States, British Empire and Worldwide postage stamps and postal history. As always, several name collections highlight this particularly valuable and comprehensive sale of 1572 lots. Some of the many collections featured are:

The F. Christian Killien, M.D. Collection of Premium Quality United States Plate Blocks. A most extraordinary offering of U.S. plate number blocks in exceptional condition. All having been selected for their outstanding centering, freshness, intact perforations, and pristine gum – the vast majority being full top positions.

The John Whitmore Collection of Used United States Postage Stamps. Many of the scarce used stamps in the sale come from this valuable collection, including elusive used coils, as well as a very nice run of revenue stamps.

The Conrad Stieber Collection of Worldwide Stamps. An exciting, comprehensive collection of worldwide stamps, 1840 to 1940, largely collected mint and in much better quality than typically seen. Many countries or areas being offered intact.

The Estate of Nicholas G. Carter. A fascinating assemblage of worldwide material formed by the beloved former President of the American Philatelic Society – including specialized exhibit collections of Gold Coast offered intact, as well as some desirable British Commonwealth large lots.

The Kent Wilson Collection of United States Stamps. A real philatelist’s collection of 19th century United States stamps, with many scarce issues, varieties and postal history.

The Estate of Floyd E. Risvold. Further offerings from this legendary collection – whose auction in January of this year by Spink Shreves realized an astonishing $7,000,000 hammer.

As with all Spink Shreves auctions, bidders may participate in the auction – live on the Internet – during the sale. Please see our website for details of this exciting bidding option.
