Postal Stationery Collections
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
1536 ogc U9/611a, UC1/29 #U9/611a, UC1/29, The extraordinary and valuable balance of the mint entires collection formed by William S. Floyd, a remarkable assemblage of approximately 575 entires (just a few cut squares), being the most comprehensive collection of its kind we have ever offered as a single lot, as the vast majority of the entires are all different major Scott numbers, with a plethora of items which catalog $25.00 to $250.00 (some even more), a large number of these entires are just never seen on the market any more, plus the collection is also augmented with dozens of specialized items listed in the UPSS catalog (die, knife, watermark, surcharge varieties), as well as some unlisted pieces, such as albinos and a range of 1925 surcharges; all remain on the original auction lot cards or retail sales sheets as acquired by Mr. Floyd literally over a lifetime, so nearly all are well annotated and identified; one of the most impressive aspects of this assemblage, besides its incredible range, is the overall quality found throughout, as Mr. Floyd was quite discerning when it came to condition, so the great majority of entires will be especially clean and fresh, plus we cannot recall seeing a single unused (addressed) entire in the collection (unless it only exists thus); between what is found in this collection, and all of the items lotted individually, this represents approximately 98% of all major Scott numbers listed in the stamped envelope section; the Scott listed items alone catalog over $21,000.00, plus there has to be a few thousand dollars of catalog value in UPSS specialized listings; the quintessential "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity for the serious stationery collector or for the collector wishing to take on this challenging area of U.S. philately. (not illustrated) Est. 5,000-7,500

Closed or SOLD for $14,500.00
