1546 ogc UX10a image#UX10a, 1c Black on buff, double impression, one inverted, pristine mint card, fresh and bright with two strong and striking impressions, the lower being inverted, extremely fine and rare; this select card, which is unpriced in Scott, is by far the choicest we have encountered and more than likely the finest in existence, a similar card of greatly inferior quality (toned with creases), realized an impressive $2,700.00, plus the 10% buyer's premium, in the March 2001 sale of the Beachboard Collection (Matthew Bennett, Inc., sale #231), this gem example is certainly destined to eclipse that strong realization; 1991 PF certificate (USPCC #S10a). 1556 Oc UX21e image#UX21e, 1c Blue on bluish, with four arcs above and below "IS", clean used card postmarked St. Louis, Mo., displaying the USPCC "Type I" variety of this rarity (a gap at the lower left corner of the "D" in "SIDE"), choice very fine; it is purported that this variety is a result of removal of one of the original 48 subject plates, in order to produce a master die for #UX22, a new plate was hastily recut from a previously rejected example and substituted into service, giving rise to the "four arcs" variety which USPCC values at $700.00 (USPCC #S28f, Type I).
