Air Post Errors
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
743 nhbl C81a image#C81a, 21c "USA" and Jet, black (engraved) color omitted, a most remarkable complete sheet of fifty, where a significant foldover in the bottom right corner caused the position 45 stamp to be the black color omitted error, while the position 50 stamp, which displays an enormous and freakish foldover, has the black color printed on the gummed side and is omitted from the front, the remaining stamps in the sheet are normal, o.g., n.h., very fine; this unique sheet produced the sole known examples of each major error; an important modern error rarity and a marvelous showpiece for the air post specialist as well; listed but unpriced in Scott, however the Datz catalog does price the intact sheet at $12,100.00, which is the price this sheet realized in a November 1997 auction ($11,000.00, plus the buyer's premium); 2001 PF certificate (Image) Datz 12,100.00

SOLD for $2,500.00
