1341 og RS268b image#RS268b, Wilder, Edward, 4c Lake, silk paper, imperforate, a scarce mint example with o.g., h.r., choice centering within large even margins, exceptionally fresh with color that shows this shade well, extremely fine and uncommonly select condition, especially mint. (Image) for used 190.00

SOLD for $240.00
Closing..Mar-08, 09:00 AM
1342 O RS268d image#RS268d, Wilder, Edward, 4c Lake, watermarked, imperforate, a fabulously choice example of this rare imperforate, the first aspect that catches the eye is the intense deep color and sharp impression with exceptional freshness, this is then beautifully centered within large to very large margins, there is discrepancy in the surveys, but it is quite likely that there are less than a dozen examples yet surviving, this is certainly one of the most desirable, trivial internal wrinkle is the only flaw preventing this from being called entirely sound, extremely fine and choice copy of a rare stamp. (Image) 1,100.00

SOLD for $1,250.00
Closing..Mar-08, 09:00 AM
1343 O RS275b image#RS275b, Zeilin, J.H., & Co., 2c Red, silk paper, well centered copy of this elusive stamp, thin spots as are found on most examples, very fine appearance. (Image) 500.00

SOLD for $725.00
Closing..Mar-08, 09:00 AM
1344 O RS309b image#RS309b, Kilmer & Co., 3c Purple, inverted overprint, this company is the only company that used regular postage stamps overprinted to produce provisional revenue stamps for the 1898 Spanish-American war tax, a very few examples are known with inverted overprints, Scott notes that two examples of the large "I.R." overprint are known on the 3c Purple but does not price it, this one is well centered with natural center line straight edge at right, small thin, very fine appearance and of the greatest rarity; apparently even Mr. Joyce, who did the research on this issue, had none of the inverted overprints in his famous collection. SOLD for $1,600.00
Closing..Mar-08, 09:00 AM
1345 O RS1d/RS314 #RS1d/RS314, Valuable and comprehensive medicine stamp balance of the Walter Harding Maurer collection, this select collection contains over 300 different stamps with a few duplicates, in general these are the more common issues but better stamps will be found throughout, the collector had an affinity for the pink paper issues, which are usually scarcer, and many nice examples will be found, the largest portion are perforated issues with an emphasis on centering, the quality conscious collector will not be disappointed as most stamps grade very fine and often much better in terms of centering, one cannot collect these issues without accepting some faults, many are hardly available any other way just by the nature of the way these issues were used, but the faults found in this collection are usually small and of little consequence, plus there are many fully sound stamps; also includes a few pieces of collateral such as advertising cards and medicinal pamphlets, plus a new two volume Aldrich album for private die match and medicine stamps; examination will be rewarding to those who take the time with this very desirable collection. Est. 5,000-7,500

SOLD for $13,500.00

1348 O RT6b image#RT6b, Hoyt, E.W. & Co., 1c Black, silk paper, imperforate, a brilliantly fresh example of one of the scarcest perfumery stamps, this stamp was taken from a unique block of four offered in the Joyce sale, and even calculating that the block has been broken there are believed to be less than eight examples known, this is completely sound with full even large margins, extremely fine and a wonderful opportunity to acquire an extremely rare stamp; ex-Joyce. (Image) 3,250.00
