1875 Special Printings of the 1873 Issue
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
1280 og 167 image#167, 1c Ultramarine special printing, without gum as issued, a spectacular example of this especially difficult Special Printing rarity, possessing remarkable physical qualities, most impressive being its magnificent centering amid very large margins, intensely rich color with a sharp prooflike impression on bright paper, scissor separated as almost always, however this stamp is one of the few that exists with its perforations completely intact (most current certificate mentions pulled perforation at bottom, which is a typical short perforation and in our opinion an unduly harsh comment considering the exemplary condition of this rare stamp), an extremely fine gem; among the finest examples in existence of the approximately 35 to 40 known; 1956 and 2001 PF certificates. (Image) $12,500.00

SOLD for $10,500.00
