216 O 128 image#128, 12c Green re-issue an extraordinarily handsome used example of a stamp that is the second rarest value from the 1869 Pictorial re-issue series to find used (the 3c is, of course, the rarest), marvelously well centered, with unusually large margins all around, rich luxuriant color and a razor-sharp impression, attractively cancelled by numeral "12" in oval of bars portion of a duplex postmark, small light corner creases at top, otherwise extremely fine; only 1,584 stamps of the Twelve Cent Re-issue were issued and it is estimated that only 15-25 examples exist used, furthermore the vast majority have faults, this particular copy is by far one of the nicest and most attractive available; 1970 and 1999 PF certificates; ex-Zoellner, "Ganymede".
